The founder Rev. Fr. Zacharius Dabrera O.M.I
Christ King College at Pannipitiya was established by Rev. Fr. Zacharius Dabrera O.M.I as an English School in 1929. The school was a tremendous advantage to residents of Pannipitiya and its suburbs as they otherwise had to send children all the way to Colombo to be educated in the English Medium.

The demand for admissions increased rapidly. The infra structure which had originally meant to cater to a limited cliental was increased to accommodate more students gradually.
The management of the school which is under the Archdiocese of Colombo was entrusted to the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena, Sr. Lanka region in 1974. Rev. Sr. Pauline Perera OP was took over the region of the school as principal spared no pain to raise the standard of the school. Classes are conducted in keeping with the national curriculum from nursery to grade 13 in Arts and Commerce Streams.

Rev. Sr. Priyantha Fernando succeeded Rev. Sr. Pauline Perera OP as principal in 2003 and vast improvement made to the infra structure. Opportunities were made available to extra-curricular fields. Thus the school made great strides to shine in all spheres radiating its light to the world in keeping with its motto “Light to the World”.
The present Principal Rev. Sr. Madhavi Illangasinghe OP who will continue to lead the school to great heights.
